We celebrated the Eighth Annual 22q at the Zoo Day which was held in Dublin Zoo, Belfast Zoo and for the first time Fota Wildlife park.
This event is held in 26 countries and over 110 cities and for families it's always a fun filled that that also enables them to socialise with other 22q families. The sea of red tshirts is also a massive awareness raising tool for 22q11.2 DS.
This event is funded by 22q11 Ireland but that wouldn't be possible without the amazing efforts of all our fundraisers.
Massive thanks must as always go to all the Morans (including Stephen) and Vicky Masterson who were the main organisers for the Dublin Zoo trip. Sarah Speight did a fantastic job organising the day in Fota. We would also like to thank Valerie Stapleton for donating the goody bags. And once more we have to thank Noleen Kavanagh for the fantastic photos.
22q at the Zoo is an event that gives families a chance to socialise with other 22q families and at the same time raise awareness of 22q11.2 syndromes. It’s important for our kids to know they are not alone in living with 22q. It also gives them a chance to form friendships which could serve them well in later life.
These days means an enormous amount to all of our families so thanks to everyone who came, supported or fundraised to help support the event.
