Once more 22q11 Ireland was staggered by the amazing efforts of the Mums, Aunties, Sisters, Friends and supporters of 22q11 Irelands team at the VHI Mini Marathon.

A wonderful 61 runners made up of 4 teams and 11 individuals were part of team 22q and as this is one of our major fundraisers for the year we hugely appreciate everyones efforts.

So many of our runners are incredibly generous in their efforts to support us and every year these runners and their supporters make a massive difference to our ability to support families in Ireland. We thank them all but have to mention the wonderful Barbara Moran and Marie O'Donnell our key organisers. Carol Harper, Miriam Craven and Karen Cafferky organised teams for us and we really appreciate their efforts.
This year we must specifically mention Rosanne Tonner who managed to gather together 30 teachers and students of Old Bawn Community School to run on our behalf. As Rosanne explained

"30 Students and staff from Old Bawn Community School in Tallaght took part in the women's mini marathon on June 3rd. Ms Mc Cabe Deputy Principal rallied the teachers back in March to sign up and and invite us to nominate a charity. 22Q11 Ireland was the chosen charity. Ms Doherty 5th year head put a call out to 5th year girls to join us on the day and to help fundraise and enjoy this momentous event. We all met up in the Harcourt Hotel where the staff and student got to meet the people behind the charity and their families and to learn a little more about 22Q. After completing the marathon back in the hotel we enjoyed food, the celebrations and displaying our silverware. To date we have raised over €2000."

For a small but mighty charity like ours having 10 runners felt like an achievement to now have 60 people proudly representing us fills us with an amazing sense of pride. Thank you each and every one.
